Mauricio Velásquez is the President and Founder of Diversity Training Group, which specializes in the planning, design, and implementation of organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategy development, consulting, training, and executive coaching in support of organizational transformation.
Mauricio is a nationally recognized author, trainer, and consultant whose articles have appeared in local, regional, and national publications including American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Profiles in Diversity Journal, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) publications, and the Managing Diversity newsletter. He was the first diversity, gender equity, and mentoring consultant and trainer on the Internet, reaching millions with his website, www.diversitydtg.com. Mauricio, in his 25 years of experience, has trained over 1 million employees, managers, and executives in the areas of diversity, gender equity, mentoring, respectful and trusting workplaces. He is an expert witness on the issues of diversity and is listed with the Technical Advisory Service for Attorneys (TASA).

Mauricio has held teaching positions at Johns Hopkins University (5 years, Police Executive Leadership Program), American University, as an adjunct faculty member and visiting lecturer with The University of Virginia, George Washington University and George Mason University and instructor for Howard County Community and Baltimore City Community Colleges.
He has been featured on over 30 radio stations nationwide and in magazines such as Franchising, NM Pro, The Scientist, Overhaul & Maintenance, Graduating Engineer, and Baltimore Business Journal, and newspapers including The Baltimore Sun, Daily Record, The Washington Times, The New York Times, and Supermarket News. He is a past Area II Diversity Director for the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and a past editor of “Diversity Alive,” a diversity newsletter for 110 chapters and 16,000 SHRM members.
Prior to founding Diversity Training Group, Velásquez had experience as a former human resource generalist and as a demographic researcher for the Internal Revenue Service, where he first anticipated the rise of diversity both inside and outside the workplace. Mauricio has had the good fortune to work with Dr. W. Edwards Deming, Peter F. Drucker, and Jerry Harvey. He credits much of his interest in human resource management and the earning of his MBA to their influences.
Mauricio is a graduate of George Washington University (MBA, Human Resource Management) and the University of Virginia (B.A. Economics and Psychology double major). He is bilingual and bicultural in Spanish and English.
